Edition #9 - December 2011
OPERATIONS MANAGER'S REPORT
Christmas already? - where has the year gone?! It certainly has been a busy one at the AMSF, with new management, new Board Members, and it’s coming up to that time of year where we announce new Rising Stars for 2012!
Before we start on the new however, we must recognise the contribution of one of our longest standing Board Members Drew Ward who will be leaving us at the end of this year. Drew has been a valued member of the AMSF Board of Directors, bringing to the table a wealth of experience in the Motorsport world. We thank Drew for his support and substantial contribution, we look forward to keeping in touch with him and wish him all the best in his future endeavours.
As most motorsport seasons have drawn to a close around the globe, we are able to look back at 2011 and chart the successes of our current and previous Rising Stars. Once again, they have done us proud, as you will see later in this newsletter as we outline all the highs and lows of their championship fights.
Back in October, our CAMS Rising Stars and AMSF Rookie Rising Stars were joined by a group of motivated young drivers at our final AMSF Fitness Camp for 2011 at Runaway Bay Sports Centre on the Gold Coast. All were pushed to their limits in a series of fitness and strength tests put to them by Motorsport fitness gurus Phil Young and Glenn Lindsay, designed to give them the edge in the 2012 season and beyond.
More recently we were lucky enough to have motor racing royalty attend the Rising Star Evaluation day held at Winton on the 20th of December. Other guests on the day included AMSF Directors, Tow Warwick, Michael Stillwell, John Schaap and Mark Skaife, Jack Le Brocq and Nick McBride helped out with some handy driving tips, V8 Supercar Engineers Richard Hollway (Garry Rogers Motorsport) and Barry Ryan (Kelly Racing) help the Minda crew and our sports psychologist Dr Noel Blundell assessed the young potential’s minds. A total of 9 boys and girls took to the track on the day.
Last but not least, we would like to wish all of our AMSF Network Group Members from around Australia who donate so generously to support us each year, our AMSF sponsors Penrite Oils, Go Markets, OAMPS, Relux Slabs and Boylan Traffic Solutions whose support enables us to do what we do, our inspiring AMSF Patron Mark Webber, our young aspiring AMSF drivers who have battled their way through the challenges of their respective categories in this year's season, previous AMSF Rising Stars who are making headlines on circuits around the world - to all of these people and to all the many friends of the AMSF, we wish you a very Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year!
We try to make the Foundation Focus newsletters as current and as interesting as possible, and appreciate any content or comment – just email your ideas to info@amsf.org.au and we can go from there. In the meantime, enjoy this edition!
