Minda Motorsport new team for CAMS Rising Star Program

September 30, 2009

The Australian Motor Sport Foundation (AMSF) has today announced that Minda Motorsport will be the official provider of racing services for the CAMS Rising Star Program for 2010 - 2011.

Founded in 2000, Minda Motorsport has achieved many competition wins and has also produced   and engineered a number of award winning competition vehicles. In its nine years of operation the team, located in Caldermeade, Victoria, has earned a professional and hard working reputation.

Throughout the extensive team selection tender process, Minda Motorsport demonstrated a shared philosophy with the AMSF, closely aligning to its mission to foster and nurture talented young Australian drivers - a crucial element in the evolution and success of the CAMS Rising Star Program moving forward.

AMSF General Manager Martin Stillman is delighted about the appointment of Minda Motorsport as the racing services partner for the 2010 and 2011 CAMS Rising Star seasons.

“Minda has demonstrated the ability to nurture young talented drivers via its talent identification programs in a professional team environment,” Stillman said.

“The drivers selected to participate in the 2010 CAMS Rising Star Program can be assured the AMSF and CAMS will work tirelessly with Minda to ensure young drivers are given every opportunity to reach their ultimate potential through the elite driver program.”

Minda Motorsport Team Principal Bruin Beasley said: “We are extremely excited to be awarded the AMSF contract today, Minda has always been focused on young driver development and can now take this to the next level with the CAMS Rising Star Program.

“There have been a lot people that have worked very hard in our organisation to get us to this level, and we thank them very much. We look forward to continuing to work closely with Borland Racing Developments and running the Spectrum chassis in 2010 and beyond.”

The AMSF reviewed four applications in the tender process with each team required to meet the key selection criteria and deliver a presentation to the AMSF. All applicants were of a very high calibre, demonstrating their ability to run and operate a successful race team.

“I was very impressed by all the teams, especially their commercial understanding of the sport,” said AMSF Director Mark Skaife.

“I am delighted with Minda being a relatively young race team in providing our young elite drivers with opportunities to further develop their skills in moving through to national and international motor sport competition and continue the excellent results of young Australian drivers.”

The AMSF extends its sincere appreciation to Borland Racing Developments (BRD) for its enormous contribution to the CAMS Rising Star Program since its inception six years ago.

“Throughout this time, BRD has fully embraced the CAMS Rising Star Program, increasing the profile and ensuring that the professionalism and integrity of the program is upheld,” said Stillman.

“Michael Borland and Paul Zsidy have played a major part in establishing the program to what it is today –  I wish them all the best in the future as the largest supplier of the Spectrum chassis.”
