Le Brocq takes the challenge abroad
Having shown consistent development and ongoing achievements in his racing so far, and with both race and round victories this year to sit third in the Australian Formula Ford Championship, 19 year old CAMS Rising Star Jack Le Brocq is about to take his career to the next level, taking the first steps to an international career this week as he heads to the United Kingdom with the Jamun Racing Team.
Taking on this year’s Australian Formula Ford Championship, the young star was already aware of the challenges of the series, and the challengers in the field, but took the step up to become one of the senior faces of the Minda Motorsport team, a role model and an achiever. Securing eight top three finishes so far this season, along with race wins and a hard fought round victory in relentless conditions at Sandown’s round five, Le Brocq has proven that he is ready to take on the next big thing, all the while maintaining a focus on moving to the next rung in the Australian Championship this year.
Securing the support of six time consecutive championship winning team Jamun Racing, along with the assistance of JHB Shopfitters, Sensorsafe Electrical Contracting, Viking Windscreens and the Australian Motor Sport Foundation, Le Brocq will fly to the United Kingdom to contest Rounds 22 to 24 of the Dunlop MSA Formula Ford Championship at Silverstone Arena from the 7th to 9th of October in one of the team’s Mygale SJ11 chassis’.
Le Brocq will then compete at the British Formula Ford Festival to be held at Brands Hatch from the 11th to 16th of October in an effort to impress the scouts and secure an international drive next season.
“I have been able to put together some very solid results with the CAMS Rising star squad throughout the 2011 season, taking my first round and race wins at the past few events, and I now think that I am ready to take on the rest of the world and travel overseas to try and make my dreams a reality!
“I have chosen to go to England and race as I think it will offer me the best chance of proving myself to the international scene and to get my name out there so that I can progress further up the open wheel rankings.
“British Formula Ford or the Formula Renault 2.0 series would offer me the best chances at breaking into the European scene, and they have proved great feeder categories into the higher levels of racing throughout Europe.
“I have been speaking with many teams across England and Europe about my plans for the 2012 season, and we are still working on what could be the best option for us depending on the budget that we can secure for the season.
“This is something that I’ve been aiming for, for so long and to finally have this opportunity is awesome! I know it is going to be a massive challenge, but going off the form we have had in recent rounds, I think anything is possible and I believe I can take it to overseas and show them just how it’s done in Australia!”
With promise so far, it’s all a matter of time until this young champion who is clear of his direction and takes all challenges head on is truly at the top of international motor sport.

About Jack Le Brocq…
Le Brocq started racing in Victorian Karting in 1999, showing clear talent and a commitment to hone his skills as he become accustomed to the circuit, going on to become the Victorian Country Series Champion of Junior Clubman, JNL and Midgets, soon being recognised and awarded the 2003 Victorian Karting Association’s Karter of the Year.
Le Brocq maintained his focus on the ultimate goal of becoming a Formula 1 World Champion and remained committed to local competition, stepping into a Formula Vee prepared by himself with help from VW Performance for the 2008 Victorian Formula Vee Championship season where he took his first race win at Phillip Island at just his third meeting.
The 2009 season was certainly one of success, with Le Brocq securing seven race wins, 16 podiums, to take three of five round wins and go second in the Victorian Formula Vee Championship as he looked to a national drive and made sure he was noticed with a second in his first national level event at the Winton circuit.
In 2010, Le Brocq joined the highly regarded Australian Motor Sport Foundation as one of their CAMS Rising Stars and continues to impress. Having juggled commitments with both the Victorian and National Formula Ford Series, Le Brocq had a challenging year but showed glimpses of glory and a noticeable race craft seeing the #49 as a consistent top ten contender.
Another asset for the young racer is his attitude that brings passion and a competitive nature, where his racing is always hard but fair, there is a willingness to accept advice and learn, and with an understanding that there is much more to motor sport success than what happens on track, you will always find the CAMS Rising Star cruising the paddocks and ready to flash a smile.
