Selection Criteria
Selection into the 2012 CAMS Rising Star Program is based on the following criteria:
General Criteria (for all levels):
- The driver’s long term goal must be to compete at the pinnacle of international competition, including Formula 1™, World Rally Championship, Indycar or the V8 Supercar Championship etc...
- The driver must be competing in CAMS approved competition (including AKA sprint-karting).
- The driver must have consistently achieved outstanding results.
- The driver, if selected, must be prepared to run with the contracted CAMS Rising Star team (currently Minda Motorsport).
National Level Selection Criteria
- The driver must be no older than 21 years and no younger than 14 years as at January 1st 2012 (rare exceptions may be considered).
- The driver must be participating in an appropriate level of competition for national level selection i.e. drivers who currently participate in state or national level Formula Ford or other circuit racing would be considered for this level.
- The driver must have the ability to provide operational budget to a level which allows them to compete in the full national Formula Ford Championship with the appropriate levels of testing – the CAMS contribution will be no less than $60,000 (possibly significantly greater) and this is in addition to the funding provided for the AIS and other associated programs or activities.
