Selection Criteria
Selection into the 2010 CAMS Rising Star Program is based on the following criteria:
General Criteria (for all levels):
- The driver's long term goal must be to race in the Formula 1™ World Championship.
- The driver must be competing in CAMS approved competition (including AKA sprint-karting).
- The driver must have consistently achieved outstanding results.
- The driver, if selected, must be prepared to run with the contracted CAMS Rising Star team.
State Level Selection Criteria
- The driver must be no older than 20 years and no younger than 14 years as at February 1st 2010 (rare exceptions may be considered)
- The driver must be participating in an appropriate level of competition for state level selection i.e. drivers who currently participate in sprint-karting, or drivers who have limited experience in state level Formula Ford or other circuit racing would be considered for this level
- The driver must have the ability to provide operational budget to a level which allows them to compete in a full state Formula Ford 1600 championship with the appropriate levels of testing.
National Level Selection Criteria
- The driver must be no older than 21 years and no younger than 14 years as at February 1st 2010 (rare exceptions may be considered).
- The driver must be participating in an appropriate level of competition for national level selection i.e. drivers who currently participate in state or national level Formula Ford or other circuit racing would be considered for this level.
- The driver must have the ability to provide operational budget to a level which allows them to compete in the full national Formula Ford Championship with the appropriate levels of testing – the CAMS contribution will be no less than $45,000 (possibly significantly greater) and this is in addition to the funding provided for the AIS and other associated programs or activities.
