Part 1 – Theory
Each official is required to familiarise themselves with the learning outcomes for the required training module. Following the lesson (face to face) or after reading (online) each official must complete the first assessment, a short quiz based on the content covered in the particular training module.
Note: Officials applying for gold grade licences do not complete a theory component; applicants are required to submit records of experience and references.
Part 2 – Practical
Each official is required to attend one or more events to gain their requested licence. The number of events to attend varies depending on the licence. For a General Official licence there is no assessment, however your event attendance must be recorded on your application form.
All other licences require the official to participate in an event assessment. It is important that the event attendance and event assessment are:
- undertaken at the correct status of event
- conducted by an official holding the correct grade and category of licence with a current Event Assessor (EA) endorsement.

Part 3 – Approval
All applications for graded official’s licences other than a General Official require approval from one or more of the following bodies:
- State Officiating Panel (SOP)
- Australian Officials Commission Executive (AOCE)
- Discipline Commissions
- Judicial Advisory Committee (JAC)
