Education Sessions
A key component of the CAMS IDiS Program is targeted education sessions to the sport, which will help to deliver illicit drug information and prevention messages, as well as strategies to assist attendees if faced with illicit drugs or their use.
These education sessions will be aimed at the following areas of the sport:
- Competitors
- Officials
- Car clubs
- Senior honoraries
Role Models
Another key component of the CAMS IDiS Program will be to gain the support of "Champions" and "Role Models".
CAMS is continually on the lookout for well-respected motor sport participants, competitors, officials and team management to become "Role Models" and help make a difference and show their support for the IDiS Program, and to help provide a beacon to other motor sport participants.
So far four Role Models have signed on to the program:
- Nick Percat
- Scott Pedder
- Tom Wilde
- Jason Galea
The Role Models will be engaged by CAMS to speak to car clubs, competitor groups, Junior Development Programs and the like about the dangers of illicit drugs, and will provide a positive example to the sport and the community in an engaging and interactive manner - aimed primarily at 15-25 year old motor sport participants. Please contact the IDiS Project Coordinator for more information on how you can engage a Role Model to speak to your club.
Role models will play a key role in driving the IDiS message - 'Achieve in Sport: Don't let Drugs Destroy your Future' .
Counselling/Rehabilitation
Another major focus of the IDiS program is the provision of access to counselling and support for anyone struggling with illicit drug use. The support and counselling is available in a non-judgemental manner, and will be undertaken by professional practitioners. This essential component of the project is focused on helping those affected by illicit drugs to that they return to normality in their personal and sporting life, and enjoy a healthy, drug-free future.
